After Russia’s President Vladimir Putin succumbed to the charm of a much younger and very pretty young woman, people are wondering if there is a trend among world leaders who, along with new luxury cars, want to also have beautiful and desirable women. 

Hitler was a caring philanthropist  

The first great lover of a very powerful man was Eva Braun. Eva had a love affair with the greatest criminal of the 20^th century, Adolf Hitler. He loved her so much that he stayed with her from the moment he laid his eyes on her to the moment he died. She was also the only person Adolf listened to. In order to keep him by her side, she constantly threatened to commit suicide.

On one occasion Eva called Hitler the most gentle man she had ever met and dismissed any idea of her man being a criminal. She described him as a very caring philanthropist. Love knows no boundaries.

But the pioneer of the modern age and the first ladies’ man among world leaders was certainly John F. Kennedy who attracted the most beautiful woman of all time, Marilyn Monroe. Of course, most people would say that Kennedy was the one who fell for Marilyn because at the time the beautiful blonde could have any man she wanted. And she proved that.

A problem in their relationship arose when she publicly showed how intimate they actually were, by singing “Happy birthday, Mr. President”. From that moment gossip began about their affair. After she committed suicide, conspiracy theories developed saying that she had taken her own life because Kennedy did not want to leave his wife Jacqueline for her.

Curse or blessing of he Elysee Palace 

The biggest living politician and seducer, the former president of France, Jacques Chirac, had many lovers in his life, despite the fact that he was married by a Playboy bunny, Bernadette. It was never proven, but it is believed that Chirac has illegitimate children with several women in Japan and Paris. His alleged children contacted him on several occasions and offered stories about their president father to the media. The stories were never taken seriously.

Chirac’s successor, Nicolas Sarkozy, also seems to sweep beautiful women off their feet. The current president’s first wife was Marie-Dominique Culioli with whom he married in 1982. he divorced her in 1996 because of his affair with a beautiful television presenter, Cecilia Ciganer-Albeniz. Cecilia left her husband for Sarkozy back in 1988 and waited until 1996 for Nicolas to propose to her.

Just when people thought the president finally settled down, he was once again swept off his feet, this time by Carla Bruni, whom he married this January, only two months after they met. Today, everywhere they go, photographers’ cameras are focused on Carla.

One would think there is something to the old myth about the Elysee Palace. In 1899 the then French President, Felix Fauer, got a heart attack while making love to his mistress and died. After that people started believing that every following president of France would be surrounded by many beautiful women, but would never find their true love in any of them.

Swept away by a Playboy bunny 

In any case, it is more probable that powerful politicians simply take what is offered to them and only find love in their positions. This was confirmed these days by the divorced Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

Putin fell in love with a 30 year younger Olympic gymnast, Alina Kabayeva, when she became a member of his political party in January. First they hid from the public eye, but now that the president is a free man, the couple announced a wedding for June.

Even Sophia Lauren was with Tito 

We should also mention the late president of the former Yugoslavia, Jpsip Broz Tito, who was a big ladies’ man. It is believed that he even had 16 illegitimate children.

But although he never hid his fascination with women, nothing ever came out in public that would incriminate him. Even 28 years after his death, his wife Jovanka does not admit Josip had cheated on her and she dubbed the young women who surrounded him even in his old age as – masseuses. Do young women fall for political power of charm? 

Czech politicians are not immune to beauties either. President Vaclav Klaus became involved with a beauty 40 years his junior. This would not be so controversial were Klaus not married and had not the photographers of local tabloids caught him in the act.

While Eliot Spitzer immediately tendered his irrevocable resignation after he was discovered having an affair, Klaus is not worried about that. In fact, his popularity even grew in the public. Of course, the fact that Spitzer had an affair with a prostitute on whom she spent as much as 80,000 dollars was very important to the American public.

Spitzer is just one in line of American politicians caught in affairs with beautiful women, but the most famous one in the past 20 years is certainly the former president of the United States, Bill Clinton, who had an affair with Monica Lewinsky, because of which the public renamed the Oval Office into “Oral Office”.

The future will answer the question if love affairs between powerful politicians and young beauties are a trend or coincidence, but it is more probably getting an answer to the question what is the cause for such relationships: the irresistible charm of big and powerful politicians or the fact that they are just big and powerful. And therefore irresistible.
