Residents of a neighbourhood of Kragujevac in Serbia on Thursday burnt the Russian flag, expressing their anger for gas being cut off in that part of the town in which 350,000 households have no other means of heat, Belgrade’s daily “Blic” reported on Friday.

The representative of the protesters, Radovan Mirkovic, explained that those left without heating were “mad at both Russia and Serbia, which waited for the last minute to tell the citizens the bad news and had not secured gas reserves”.

He recalled that every household had paid 4,000 euros on average to be included in the gas supply system.

“For that money we could have bought enough wood to get heat from for the next ten years”, Mirkovic said.
