Czech counterintelligence service (BIS) announced that the former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein planned to attack the headquarters of the Radio Free Europe in Prague.

BIS released a statement on Monday claiming that the service learned that, in the year 2000, Saddam ordered the attack of the Radio Free Europe.

The attack was to be launched by Iraqi agent who, according to the plan, was supposed to fire anti-tank missile through the window of the apartment near the radio headquarters.

Czech agency said that Iraqi used diplomatic vehicles to smuggle weapons into to the country, including anti-tank missiles and RPG-7, six machine guns and ammunition.

BIS closely guarded the radio station ever since and the Iraqi side was notified that their plans were discovered. However, Saddam never gave up their intentions. Only when the Iraq regime fell in 2003 did The Iraqi Embassy in Prague give up the weapons.

Radio Free Europe began broadcasting in Iraq in 1998.
