The European commissioner for expansion, Olli Rehn, said for the German Kelnish Rundshau that Kosovo has a European perspective.
When journalists asked if Serbia could enter the European Union without recognizing the independence of Kosovo, Rehn said that all candidates for the EU need to have good neighbourly relations.
Kosovo will not have two international missions
Kosovo’s president Sejdiu said that in Kosovo there will not be separate missions for Albanians and for Serbs.
- UNMIK (United Nations Mission in Kosovo) has its role, a mission for a specified amount of time whilst resolution 1244 is in power. On the other hand, Kosovo will not have two international missions, one for the Albanians and one for the Serbs – said the president of Kosovo, dr. Fatmir Sejdiu.
The independence of Kosovo gained support at VS OUN
The premier of Kosovo, Hashim Thaqi, and the chief of UNMIK Joakim Rucker, upon returning from New York, where they participated at the meeting VS OUN, stated that at the Security Council OUN they gained strong promises about new recognitions of Kosovo, as well as the possibility of holding Serbian elections in Kosovo.
