Relatives say the plane was to land in New York, the owner says in the Dominican Republic and the flight control says – the Bahamas.

Luis Perez, the aircraft’s owner, told authorities he was planning to have the plane reported stolen, as well as that he had planned to sell it. According to him, the plane was supposed to be on its way to the Dominican Republic for a check-over.

The plane’s pilot, Adrian Jimenez, from the Dominican Republic, was not a licensed pilot. His flight license was taken away back in 2006.

According to the flight plan, the plane lifted off from the Dominican Republic and was supposed to land in the Bahamas, but it disappeared south-east of the Bahamas soon after departure. The airplane did not land anywhere between its point of departure and the Bahamas, according to the island’s flight controls.

But the relatives of the passengers told the media that the plane was scheduled to land in New York.

The coast guard of the Caribbean islands searched for remains of the aircraft, but unsuccessfully. The search was also made difficult by the weather.
