Castro has not been seen in public since 2006. He handed over to his brother Raul all state duties.
Cuban leader Fidel Castro appeared on Wednesday in a new photograph with the President of the Dominican Republic, Leonela Fernandez, whom he received two days earlier in his “medical residence” in Havana, according to the Dominican republic’s government’s web site.
The former 82-year-old Cuban president was dressed in leisurely sports clothes in the photograph.
Castro has not been seen in public since he underwent serious surgery in 2006, after which he handed over all of his statesmanship functions to his brother, Raul.
Fidel Castro’s last photograph was released on February 12 during the visit of Chilean President Michelle Bachelet to Cuba.
