Croatian authorities are run by scoundrels and the slap we gave them is something they will remember for a while, Vasiljkovic says.
Since being released from Australian detention Dragan Vasiljkovic, better known as Captain Dragan, does not get tired of giving interviews. In the latest one, which he gave to the Frankfurt edition of the Serbian paper Vesti, Vasiljkovic assess how decision against his extradition to Croatia will be a new model, according to which, no other Australian Serb shall ever be extradited to Croatia. He said that the decision of Australian Federal Court was a slap against the fascist currents in Croatia.
- I'm not talking about the whole country, but the currents that allow corruption within the legal system. A decision made by the Federal Court, a court that consists of not only one judge, but the entire judicial council, says that Croatia is still lawless and that their legal system is shady – Vasiljkovic says. He also adds that he wanted to be tried in Australia all along and that Croatian authorities seem to support this now.
Dragan Free: Australian or Croatian Mistake?
In fact, as he says, Australian Federal Court’s ruling was an opportunity to show that Croatia is still run by scoundrels. However, he also adds that he does not hate Croats, many of whom are his friends who are equally disguised with events surrounding his case.
- However, currents at war still operate over there. It will take them a long time to recover from the slap we gave them – Vasiljkovic said. He also added that he believes that the process running against him is used to intimidate Serbs wanting to return to Croatia and that government’s enmity is not really directed towards him.
He claims that the most important thing is that hundreds of Serbs, who lived in fear of extradition, can now walk down the street with their heads held high. He also ads that Croats have a list of up to 200 people who currently live in Australia, but believes that possibility of their extradition is now next to impossible – Mondo, news reports.
I am innocent, there was no evidence against me
- I would gladly lay ten years in prison for the goal that I had. If we are hereby given a right that no other Serb is allowed to be extradited to Croatia, the price was worth it. I mean, this is not about Australia only; it is of crucial international importance as well. If they tried to seek Serbs from other countries, this judgment will always be used as an example. All that Croatia got for starting this dirty game is a bad name that will be very hard to wash - concluded Vasiljkovic. As for future plans, Captain Dragan said that he will fight to remove Croatia from the extradition list. He says that this is very doable and that this should be the next step.
- It is of crucial importance that the Australian government understands that no one, not only Serbs, but not one Australian, cannot be extradited to Croatia. This is the next step - Captain Dragan said.
