Man Keeps His Toys Hidden From Hitler For 70 Years

It has been over 70 years when young Dewi Rowlands started packing his dearest toys. He probably wanted to save them when war in Europe broke out, so that the infamous Adolf Hitler never gets his hands on them.

The toy box included a train set, small tin soldiers, an imitation of a gun, wooden figurines, games and letters of the alphabet.

Brenda Rowlands learned of her husband`s long kept secret only after he died. Dewi passed away at the age of 77 at the end of 2006.

Dewi Rowlands never mentioned to his wife what he had in the toy box. Even when she asked him what he had, he refused to say.

Mrs. Rowlands reached for the box only after his death.

- It was amazing. I also found a tin containing marbles, broken toys, nuts and bolts  -  just the things which might have been found in the pockets of a boy during the 1930s – Brenda Rowlands told the Mail Online.

Late Dewi`s wife pointed out the toys were a small boy`s most precious belongings, but she could not understand why he wanted to keep it a secret.

The chest was lined with newspapers from 1937. Brenda Rowlands donated her husband`s collection to the Aberystwyth Museum, in central Wales.
