The former Soviet president Mikhail Gorbachev evaluated on Wednesday that Barack Obama will start a “Perestroika” in the USA, adding that he is very happy for the choice of the Democratic candidate at the American presidential elections.

“Two or three years ago I said that America needs Perestroika, which was accepted in the United States of America with approval” said Gorbachev, reports the Russian agency Itar-Tass.

It is not by chance that the whole world followed these elections, especially in Russia” added the father of Perestroika, stressing that Obama’s administration will bring changes.

“It is not by chance that the voters voted, they are aware that changes are needed” said Gorbachev, and added that the first black man in the Whitehouse is a “lesson for all of us”.

Gorbachev used Perestroika and Glasnost to shake the lives of millions of Russians, and create a wave of hope in the world, even though a large number of his fellow citizens will never forgive him for the chaos that occurred after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
