The whole of Germany, especially Winnenden, a town near Stuttgart, has been in shock for the past two days. A 17-year-old young man has killed 15 persons and in the end, took his own life. As most persons were women, the media speculated whether he was a woman hater, because he had been bullied by one of his female teachers. Supposedly, he broke up with a girl prior to this.

Still, we found out a different story, talking with Danijel Duvnjak (19), whose 7-year junior brother was at the Albertville-Realschule during the massacre and who personally knew the killer, Tim Kretschmer.

- Tim had a lot of money and his schoolmates hung out with him just for money. Apart from that, he was quiet and did not say much. I would never have guessed that he could “snap”. We once played poker at his house and everything was normal, he did not show that he would do it – Danijel told us.

He added that Kretschmer used to spend a lot of time at a computer, usually playing computer games. Still, as he said, he did not play Grand Theft Auto, highly criticised game due to its explicit depiction of violence and homicide, which inspired several teenagers to perform massacres similar to this one, it was proved.

Armament at home indiced him or just offered a method?

- His father had over 30 weapons in a safety box and one handgun in a drawer. Tim took this gun, he killed with it – Duvnjak said. In addition, he has no objection to the way the police handled the situation. He pointed out that the police have done a lot and that they appeared in two minutes. If they had not, Danijel told us, Tim would have killed more persons inside the school, seeing how he had a lot of ammunition with him.

Still, we could not speak to Danijel`s 12-year-old brother Marko – the boy is still in shock because of the scene he witnessed at school.
