Successor states of the former Federal Federal Republic of Yugoslavia will meet on Thursday and Friday to negotiate the distribution of their inheritance. Series of similar meetings have been held during the past five years, and according to Serbian media, 95 percent of the inheritance has already been resolved. However those remaining five seem to be especially problematic.

What exactly constitutes those remaining five percent is not known yet, but Berislav Zivkovic, head of the Office for Public Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integrations, noted that more details will be known after the meeting.

- Mrs. Metelko is currently in Belgrade and we will have more information after the Friday’s meeting. After that, we will know exactly how much is owed and to which countries – Zivkovic explained in a telephone interview. Andrea Metelko-Zgombic is the main legal advisor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integrations.

Nobody insists on acquiring the most attractive properties

According to Serbian media, Gasa Knezevic, high representative for succession of Serbia, said that nobody seems to insist on acquiring the most attractive properties.  He also noted that meetings should address the distribution of other diplomatic properties, finances, archives, automobiles and immobile properties, acquired rights and similar issues.

Knezevic and noted that Serbia's goal is to show that they are ready to clear up any questions regarding the division of the property. He also said that they are resolute to resolve the remaining assets in the package in order to avoid the individual insistence on more ‘attractive properties’.

Meeting in Belgrade will be opened by Mirko Cvetkovic, and the next meeting is planned for the spring or summer of 2010 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
