
Following are security developments in Afghanistan at 1200 GMT on Friday:
HELMAND - Two NATO-led soldiers were killed in the southern province of Helmand, the alliance said in a statement. NATO-led forces would not release the identities of the soldiers. Some 8,000 British troops are deployed in Helmand as well as a few hundred Danish and Estonian troops.
HELMAND - NATO-led Afghan troops killed five Taliban insurgents during a battle in the southern Nawa district, some 590 km (365 miles) southwest of Kabul, on Monday, the provincial police chief said.
NANGARHAR - Two civilians were killed when their vehicle hit a roadside bomb in the Chaparhar district, some 190 km (120 miles) east of Kabul, on Monday, an Interior Ministry statement said.
KUNAR - Two border police officers were killed on Monday night when insurgents ambushed them in the Ghazi Abad district, some 155 km (95 miles) east of Kabul, the provincial police chief said.
