EU Says Russian Meat Import Bans Disproportionate

The commission maintains that EU meat doesn`t pose a risk to the consumer and that the measures taken by Russia are disproportionate.

The European Commission on Wednesday criticised Russian meat import bans on companies from seven member states, saying antibiotic levels found by Russian authorities were within EU safety limits. "The commission maintains that EU meat doesn't pose a risk to the consumer and that the measures taken by Russia are disproportionate," Marc Franco, the European Union's ambassador to Russia, told Reuters through a spokeswoman.
