British Soldier Killed In Afghanistan Explosion

A British soldier was killed on Sunday in an explosion while on patrol in Afghanistan's Helmand province, the Ministry of Defence said.

The Royal Marine, operating with the 45 Commando unit, was killed in the province's Kajaki area, the MoD said in a statement.

"He was taking part in a routine reassurance patrol when the explosion occurred. He received immediate medical attention at the scene but sadly died of his wounds," the MoD said, adding that the marine's next of kin have been informed.
