A Bosnian court on Friday jailed a former Muslim soldier for eight years after finding him guilty of committing war crimes against civilians during the country's 1992-1995 war.
Idhan Sipic was convicted of murdering an elderly Serb woman in the northwestern Bosnian village of Korjenovo Brdo in September 1995, a court statement said.
Sipic had pleaded guilty to the crime, and his case was the first completed by the Court of Bosnia-Hercegovina's war crimes chamber under a plea bargain agreement.
Bosnian authorities are allowed to try low-profile war crimes cases, while The Hague-based UN war crimes tribunal hears cases against top wartime officials.
