The Croatian handball team will reach for another medal on Sunday afternoon, fifth in the past six years. But on their way to the gold medal is an obstacle called the French, current Olympic winners, who will not give up so easily. The French are a good team in which players who are the best in their respective clubs play. 

Vori was an unsolvable mystery 

The Croatian national handball team will have to work very hard to break the defence into which Dinart, who did not play in the first match with Croatia, is coming back. The goalie will be Omeyert, who also did not play in the first game when Croatia won. During that match, the goalie was Daouda Karaboue who played 19 fantastic defences. Although he defended a lot of shots, Vori was an unsolvable mystery because he made eight fantastic goals from eight tries. During the last match, Croatia managed to stop France at 19 goals, which only rare teams managed to do, and Metlicic or Balic were not playing then, who are Croatia’s main game builders. But the fans were definitely also to be merited for the Croatian team’s good playing, for which the players have thanked the public.

There is a lot going for Croatia, but not the statistics. Only three teams managed to win the world championship at home, while as many as seven were not so lucky. Germany hosted the championship six times and only celebrated twice. If Croatia wins the gold medal, it will enter the chosen society of handball superpowers: France, Sweden and Germany. A victory over France would mean its second gold in the world championship, while a defeat would mean Croatia’s third silver medal. In any case, Croatian handball has already achieved great success by entering the finals.
