SPLIT, CROATIA - A few hours before the ceremonial opening of the World Handball Championship – Croatia 2009, Split is filled with a hot atmosphere. Nearly every place in the city radiates the positive charge before the great Split, Croatian and world party.
The president of the organizational committee of the World Handball Championship – Croatia 2009, Split’s mayor Ivan Kuret, said that he is delighted with such an atmosphere in Split.
“Everyone is trying so much, people are really working day and night, until the early morning hours, but it is not hard for me or the other people included in the organization to handle all of those efforts. Toni Gamulin, the executive director, said that we are ready. I am convinced that we are totally prepared, and the result should be the crown of this great story. I can hardly wait for it to begin, because we all want to see the result of this great work. This is a world event, and we will not even a single moment of this event to be brought into question. Split is a strong city, and we will see that we are ready for the largest projects” said Ivan Kuret.
We will see tonight what it will feel like for us who are holding cameras in our hands, considering the limited number of photojournalists allowed near the court. Of course, a few hundred objectives (behind each of which a person is standing) is not possible to allow, and it is an issue of the criteria of the leading people from PRESS.
For now all is unknown. Only one fact is known, that in a few hours time the World Handball Championship will start in Split.
