The World Handball Championship in Croatia has just started, and a scandal has already surfaced. It seems that tickets for entry into the sports hall were printed in more than one copy, because some people could not get into Split’s Spaladium Arena, even though they bought their tickets at official sales points.

The fans that remained in front of the sports hall bought their tickets at the “Tisak Media Centar” on Split’s waterfront, reports the daily Slobodna Dalmacija. Every ticket purchased has the date and time of issue, and the name of the branch where it was bought. The paper the tickets were printed on was supplied by the HRS (Croatian Handball Federation), and it seems that somebody printed a number of tickets twice.

HRS has nothing to do with ticket sales

The Croatian Handball Federation is informed about the case in Split, but is distancing itself from the problem, because it is not responsible for the sales and distribution of the tickets.

“In the name of the Croatian Handball Federation I can tell you that we are sorry for that, but we are not responsible for the sales of tickets, the company Dekod is” said the spokesperson of HRS, Zlatko Skrinjar for Javno.com.

We could not get a comment from Dekod or Tisak Media, and it is not known exactly how many extra tickets were printed, but it should be found out soon.

We hope that there will not be such scandals in the future that will throw dirt on the largest sporting event that Croatia is hosting for the first time.
