Croatia football coach Slaven Bilic is to be named a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations children's fund, the organisation said here Wednesday.
"Bilic has been acting as a children's rights advocate for a number of years," UNICEF said in statement.
"With Bilic's nomination as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador, children will get another big friend whose boldness and courage showed on football fields throughout the world will be at their service."
Bilic, a 39-year-old former West Ham defender and international who has coached Croatia's national team since July 2006, would be appointed to the position on February 28, it added.
