Australia midfielder Mark Bresciano on Wednesday gave his biggest indication yet that he might sign a new contract with Palermo, saying he has no desire to leave the Sicilian club.

Palermo have had a good start to the season with Bresciano adopting a defensive midfield position in coach Walter Zenga's team.

And the 29-year-old, who joined the Sicilians from Parma in 2006 after a previous spell at Empoli, said he's considering extending his stay.

- Of course there's a possibility that I'll stay at Palermo. I feel very good here and I've got no reason to leave - he said.

- Over the last few years I've never played with such consistency or had the same confidence of the coach and my team-mates, a player couldn't ask for anything more.

- This season my position on the field is a little deeper than over the last few seasons, I'm more involved in the defensive part of the game.

- I'm not scoring so much, I'm trying but it's more difficult now. -

The Melbourne-born socceroo has played 51 times for Australia and first came to Italy, the country of his ancestors, in 1999.
