World champion and Olympic vice champion in high jump Blanka Vlasic recorded a new win and jumped two metres at the Indoor Gala athletic meeting in Malmou.
In the end, Blanka celebrated as she jumped 201 cm, ahead of Russian Viktoria Kljugina (193) and her fellow countrywoman Svetlana Skolina (190).
- I felt good, but I had problems maintaining my body temperature. It was unusually cold in the sports hall. My feet were frozen and it’s a lucky thing I didn`t injure myself - Blanka said.
The mentioned conditions are not strange, because a hockey match was played inside the hall a few days ago, and the ice was just covered with the hall floor. Thus, the organiser significantly reduced the athletes` options of realising optimum results.
After passing the bar at 175 and 189 cm, Blanka joined the competition at 185 cm, which she jumped from the first go, as well as 190 cm. She then had another break, passing 193 cm.
The Croatian high jumper encountered problems at 196 cm, jumping it from the second go, which was enough for victory. After remaining alone, Blanka lifted the bar at 201 cm, jumping it from the third go. She tried to jump 204 cm, but was unsuccessful three times.
