During her teenage days Twiggy wanted to be a fashion designer. She sewed her own clothes and she believes that her unique creations are one of the reasons she succeeded as a model.
- My first memories on what I wanted to wear are the time when I was 13. Clothes that I made were not typical teenage clothes. It was during those years that I became aware of fashion. I developed an obsession with clothes and I planned to go to art school. However, everything changed in 1966 when I started doing modeling. I believe that my unique style helped people notice me - said Twiggy.
On the occasion of Twiggy’s 60th birthday, London’s National Portrait Gallery is setting an exhibition titled ‘Twiggy: Life in the photos’.
- During my career I had the privilege to work with many great photographers. I am very excited to have many famous portraits in one place - says Twiggy, who recently became the face of cosmetic house Olay for which she advertises anti-wrinkle cream.
