Patayan city in the northeast of Thailand was the host of the Miss International Queen 2009 on Saturday. This competition is designed for the promotion of tolerance toward transgender people and transsexuals.
The anual competition has been held for the past five years and this year's queen is Harun Ai from Japan.
Kangsadal Wongdiesadeekul from Thailand got a title of the first runner, while the Brazilian, Daniela Marques, was proclaimed a second runner. Competition was attended by the competitors from 25 countries of the world.
Competitors are between the age of 18 and 36
Patayan Pageant, held from October 26 until the October 31, is designed to give support to today's transgendered and transsexual people from all over the world. Requirement to attend is that the competitor must be between the age of 18 and 36.
According to the organizers, the goal of the show is enabling Bisexual and Transgender people to show their individual beauty and intelligence in a friendly atmosphere.
This competition is the world's largest cabaret show and enjoys a strong support from the tourist community of Thailand.
