British stars have gotten onto the hot catwalk at the London Fashion Week in order to collect funds for the charity White Ribbon Alliance, an organization that helps save the lives of pregnant women and newborn babies all around the world. Naomi Campbell, the organizer of the project “Fashion for Relief”, placed the designers themselves on the catwalk. International faces from the world of fashion, film and sport wore creations by Jaeger, Alexander
McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana and Vivienne Westwood. The following famous personalities walked down the catwalk: Mischa Barton, Vivienne Westwood, Cilla Black, Sugababes, the sportswomen Sarah Ayton and Rebecca Adlington, Erin O’Connor, the singer Katherine Jenkins and Naomi Campbell.
All of the money gathered from the sale of entry tickets, the auction during the fashion show itself, the sale of Jaeger’s shirts, as well as the online auction of clothing and donations, will be donated to the White Ribbon Alliance, whose host this year will be the wife of the British prime minister, Sarah Brown.
“I am honoured to be working with Sarah Brown and the White Ribbon Alliance on this year's Fashion For Relief”.
“So many women, children, families, communities around the world are affected by maternal mortality. Fashion is universal, personal and touches everyone in some way”.
“We are using this year's London Fashion Week catwalk to reach people, showcase the important work of the White Ribbon Alliance and raise money for this cause” said Naomi Campbell to the press a few weeks ago, reports Vogue.
According to bangshowbizz, Naomi said at last night’s fashion show “Fashion for Relief” that she plans on donating her designer clothing to people that she met at a public soup kitchen. Naomi was so impressed with her colleagues at London’s Whitechapel Mission, where she was performing a sentence of community service for an incident at the airport early this year.
“The people at Whitechapel are brilliant, they're coming tonight - they're lovely people. They're wonderful people and I'm so happy and blessed I'm going to now round up all the clothes and stuff that I don't want and get them down to them” said Naomi Campbell for bangshobizz.
