"He was a wonderful artist and a wonderful human being.

"I'm here to do what I can, it is part of our responsibility as a family to continue his legacy and keep it alive."

Latoya said she was "not at all" coming to terms with the death of Jackson in June, after he consumed a lethal cocktail of powerful prescription drugs.

His death is being treated as a homicide.

"I started crying last time I saw a tribute to him," she said. "I've got make sure I won't do that tonight."

Jermaine will perform "Smile", Jackson's favourite song, and will be introduced by Latoya. The Mobo Awards, held this year in Glasgow instead of London, celebrate music of black origins.
