A leading nutritionist, Gary Williamson, has discovered that the key for a long and healthy life were coffee, chocolate and tea, Webindia reports.
Williamson, who works at Leeds University, has assembled a list of 20 basic products which prolong
life. Apart from coffee, chocolate and tea, his list also included apples, blueberries, blackberries, wheat, cherries, tomatoes, cranberries, oranges, apricots, plumbs, raspberries, red grapes, red onion, spinach and strawberries.
These types of fruit are rich in polyphenols, which are proven to have numerous positive effects on health, most important being that they protect the heart.
Williamson claims that products from his list help prolong life, because they prevent cell damage which comes with aging.
Low fruit and vegetable intake, i.e. products rich in polyphenol increases the probability of developing chronic illnesses. Because these products are abundant in polyphenol, Gary Williamson believes they are the key to a long life.
