China's plans to boost its economy and soften the impact of global recession could create new opportunities for corruption, a Chinese official said on Friday.

"The anti-corruption situation will remain grave and complicated," Communist Party discipline official He Guoqiang was quoted as saying by the official Xinhua news agency.

China has launched a 4 trillion yuan ($586 billion) stimulus package that will spend heavily on large infrastructure projects as the economy loses steam.

GDP growth eased to 9 percent in the third quarter, in single digits for the first time in at least four years, and some forecasters see it slowing to 7.5 percent next year as the global downturn takes its toll.

He called for more efforts to combat graft, including in land buying, environmental protection, and the distribution of disaster relief, Xinhua reported.
