ZAGREB, CROATIA - The silver medal that Croatia won at the 2009 World Handball Championship, which saddened many people who expected gold yesterday, is treated as huge success today. Prime Minister Ivo Sanader received the Croatian team and the entire headquarter of experts, to pay tribute to them.
- Now that the impressions have sunk in, we can say this is a fantastic result, because being second in the world in anything is a big deal – PM Sanader said.
- We have built six handball homes thanks to your success at championships, and now, I`m telling you that we have not forgotten the Handball home. It will be built and serve handball in the entire country. I can`t say the precise date, but I promise that it will be built – Croatian Prime Minister Sanader announced the same thing that two governments before him promised to do, but failed.
In the end, the Croatian government threw a surprise for the handball team, playing their signature song “Morska vila”, joining the players in a sing-along.
