Thompson Looses Lawsuit Against City Of Pula

PULA, CROATIA – Pula Municipality Court has dismissed the lawsuit of Marko Perkovic Thompson, in which he demands the city of Pula to facilitate his performance at the Arena. Judge Mirna Franciskovic explained that the court cannot order the owner of the real estate to allow someone to perform, and that Thompson`s human rights have not been violated.

- We are dissatisfied with the first-degree verdict and it is not valid. We will appeal and turn to a second degree court – Thompson`s manager Zdravko Barisic told us, adding that they will do everything for Thompson to perform at the Pula Arena.

Thompson and his record label MP-ton will have to pay for the court expenses, which amount to 7.085 kuna (nearly 1,000 euros).

The reason for the verdict are not the songs Thompson sings, because the judge did not go into details of these songs, but the provision was based exclusively on property-legal relations, Regional Express reports. The city of Pula owns the Arena.

Thompson`s legal team has filed a lawsuit against the city of Pula, because he was not allowed to perform at the Arena, believing that the popular singer`s fundamental human rights and freedom of gathering were violated.

The city of Pula claims that Thompson was not allowed to perform because the request for the concert arrived after all deadlines. Pula Mayor Boris Miletic stressed in his previous statements that he has nothing against Thompson and his songs, but that he could not support Ustasha iconography which is an accompanying element of his shows.
