Smoking in café-bars will be allowed starting on Friday because a six-month period, during which the café-bar owners have the option to install ventilation systems designed for smokers, begins.
After five months of prohibition, smoking in café-bars is allowed once again and it will remain so until the April 9th of the next year.
Prior to making changes to the Law that limits tobacco products, Health Minister, Darko Milinovic, encouraged business owners to opt for the so-called non-smoking bars and announced that the Ministry of Health would provide certain financial benefits for business that decide to promote a healthy life style.
According to the legislative changes bigger café-bars will be able to have a separate smoking area with ventilation and filtration system in which they will not be able to serve drinks; while owners of café-bars that are smaller than 50 square meters, are allowed to decide whether they will allow smoking or not.
In other public places, smoking still remains prohibited.
