ZAGREB, CROATIA – Ahead of his meeting between Croatian Prime Ministers Ivo Sanader Foreign Minister Gordan Jandrokovic on Tuesday, Slovenian Foreign Minister Samuel Zbogar said it was only an informative meeting at which several problems would be discussed.
Unfortunate circumstances
Unfortunate circumstances caused a problem with the ratification of an agreement with which Slovenia would allow Croatia to access NATO and “everything that could go wrong, went wrong”, Zbogar claims.- I don’t believe we will discuss models of arbitration. This is an initiative of the European Commission and they will prepare the moderation elements – Zbogar told Ljubljana’s Delo daily on Monday.
For some time it was speculated that former Finnish president and Nobel prize winner, Martti Ahtisaari, could be the arbiter in talks between Croatia and Slovenia. An arbitration should lead to solving border issues between the two countries that are an obstacle to Croatia’s negotiations with the European Union.
According to Slovenian media, Zbogar said that the problems with the ratification of Croatia’s protocol on joining NATO were caused by “unfortunate events”.
- Everything that could go wrong, went wrong – Zbogar told reporters in Brussels.
