ZAGREB, CROATIA – On behalf of the members of parliament of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Nenad Stazic requested of Chief State Prosecutor Mladen Bajic to initiate criminal proceedings against Croatian Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and all government ministers who voted in favour of the Golf Law.
The SDP claims that the law is pure corruption because the Golf Law benefits companies that donated money to the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
Stazic claims that the Skiper d.d. company, which is building golf courses, has donated the HDZ three million kuna on two occasions.
- This is pure corruption at work – Stazic said and demanded that the law be completely withdrawn from parliament procedure.
Parliament Speaker Luka Bebic responded that the accusations against the prime minister and HDZ that are not substantiated by any proof are egregious and gave Stazic a caution.
- It is the same as saying a child should not be born because it will later fall ill and die – Bebic said.
The MPs have not yet voted on the law because they do not have a quorum.
