The search for the Cessna aircraft continued this morning, even though weather conditions are a lot worse than they were yesterday, said the head of the Croatian mountain rescue service, Vinko Prizmic. Rain is falling on the Velebit mountain, and snow is expected during the day. Because it is assumed that the Cessna did not hit into Velebit on the “Vaganski” peak, they have already flown over it in their search, so the search is aimed at a region on the southern side.

“The search zone has expanded and during the day we will search ten locations where there is a possibility that the plane is” said Prizmic.

The newspaper Vecernji List finds out that the alpinist Stipe Bozic has joined the search, who together with a few members of the Croatian mountain rescue service (HGSS), will stay on the Vaganski peak and search that region. They have equipment and tents, and are ready to spend a few days on Velebit.

The search headquarters, founded at the Zadar police department, is checking all information that can be gained from witnesses, however subjective statements are in question.

Remember, the Cessna that was carrying four pilots was flying from Zagreb towards Zadar. The plane disappeared on Thursday afternoon.

Today 35 participants of the HGSS and members of the special police are participating in the search.

Even though the weather conditions do not allow searching from the air, and landmines are hampering the searching of certain terrain, helicopters are prepared to fly and could take off if the weather allows it.

The owner of the plane Josip Crncevic claims the weather conditions were to blame for the accident, and that the plane was in good flying condition.
