ZAGREB, CROATIA – Although Zagreb has been previously covered by snow, this week, the “real snow” fell, which stuck to the ground. Seeing how both the younger and older generations love the snow, apart from throwing snow balls and sledging, many will be delighted with this scene from Zagreb`s Lake Bundek, where swans blend in with the background.
As the temperature is 10 below zero degrees Celsius these days, the water at Lake Bundek froze
and compressed some 20 white swans to a small area with running water.
However, there is no room for panic, because apart from being the largest type of water birds, swans have thick feathers covered with fat which makes them warm.
Everyone who wants to enjoy other types of winter delights, apart from winter sports of course, can enjoy watching the frozen lake and some 20 shimmeringly white swans.
Interestingly enough, a swan symbolises maturity and completion in European mythology, while it is often used to depict purity in art.
