LIFE IS A MASQUERADE
FEBRUARY 25 2009 11:54h
The Carnival prince was burned at the stake, because he was guilty of problems with Slovenes, the credit crunch, expensive gas etc.
SPLIT, CROATIA – Like many other Croatian cities, Split set its Carnival prince, Krnjo, on fire at the end of the Carnival period. The “prince” was first nailed to the pole of shame in Split`s Waterfront, and was then burned, naively believing he was at fault for all the bead things that happened last year.
Split behind the mask
Therefore, he was guilty for all the problems with Slovenia, because the small country is blocking Croatia`s European Union accession talks. He is guilty because certain naive people want to access the EU, he is guilty because the standard dropped, he is guilty because gas prices went up, he is also guilty because more children are not being born, he is guilty for everything and it is much easier to blame him for all the bad things, than the actual Krnjo.
During Carnival, everyone is allowed to be someone else, we are allowed to look differently than we normally do. And to speak and write differently than we normally speak and write. Who would not love his little moment of joy when we can look, talk and write differently disguised with a mask? Therefore, if someone is offended by this article in any way, let them not be mad. Next year, we will condemn a new Krnjo, because it is usually the guilty ones that are said to be guilty.
Thank him for taking all of our sins upon himself, and next year, the Split Waterfront will again be busy with Split citizens who will blame Krnjo, behind their masks.
