ZAGREB, CROATIA - At around 11.55pm the police received a tip off that an explosion occurred near Zagreb’s Savski Most on Savska Street. When they arrived at the scene, they found a body of an unidentified man – said the head of the police sector for borders Mato Markovic, at the scene of the event.
As we found out at the scene, a man died as a result of an explosion, but it is not known if it was suicide or an accident.
The investigation is still under way, and the police refuse to give any information related to the tragedy. According to witnesses, a hand grenade exploded while the man was digging in a garbage can.
The exploded bomb was not the only one?
The information, as well as the story from the scene of the event, indicates that the police are still searching for another two hand grenades, was not confirmed nor denied by the police.
During the explosion, a number 17 tram that was passing down Savska Street was damaged. Luckily, according to Markovic, there were no injuries.
Due to the investigation, Savska Street was cordoned off and access was forbidden, the scene itself was secured by five patrol vehicles and emergency vehicles and the entire area was marked with police tape.
The ambulance that arrived at the scene could only declare the death of the unlucky man.
