ZAGREB, CROATIA - The Croatian parliament will consider the SDP (Social Democratic Party) proposal to enable 50 percent lower freeway tolls on February 11.
SDP says that this would lower the death rate of motorcycle riders, who do not want to drive on the freeways due to the high freeway tolls.
They propose that motorbike riders be placed in a special group of vehicles that would pay 50 percent lower road tolls compared to first group vehicles.
The Cabinet is against such a proposal, and claims that they are busy with giving permission to the Croatian freeways, to implement a new group of vehicles, for motorbikes, motor tricycles and quadcycles, which would pay 40 percent less than the first group of vehicles.
SDP considers that it is an issue that should be regulated with a law, and not a cabinet decision.
