DUBROVNIK, CROATIA – As photo fits of abductors from the Dubrovnik area were aired in Channel 7`s documentary concerning the circumstances of Britt Lapthorne`s death, debates were started about the work of the Dubrovnik-Neretva police department. According to the claims of the Slobodna Dalmacija daily, the photo fits, supposedly, are those of Dragan P. and Ivica R., employees of the Narcotics Department of the Dubrovnik-Neretva police department, however, the police do not wish to confirm their identity.

Dubrovnik officers comment

-.-Dubrovački List-.-Those close to Britt Lapthorne say their final farewell to her by throwing white rose petals into the water where she was found dead.Britt Lapthorne was last seen at the Fuego nightclub in September 2008, while her body was found 18 days later. The Channel 7 documentary features three girls talking about supposed kidnapping attempts, while one of them, Kate, said they tried kidnapping her, but she jumped out of a speeding car. Dubrovnik police officers say the film does not make any sense.

- We are qualified, physically prepared, trained and not even we can jump out of a speeding car and escape injuries, imagine some girl doing it in the middle of the night – the officers told the Slobodna Dalmacija daily.

A girl named Jennifer, who also featured on the documentary, claims fake police officers tried to kidnap her, but she saw through the fake badges. The police confirm that they intervened in this case, because they noticed commotion near a group which included Jennifer.

- Not even 50 percent of Croatian citizens could not recognise a real police badge from a fake one, let along someone from abroad – a Dubrovnik police officer told the Slobodna Dalmacija daily.
