Prime Minister, Jadranka Kosor, cautiously announced that the so-called ‘crisis tax’ could be abolished earlier than announced, that is, in the summer of the next year.

Asked whether a possibility that this tax could be abolished earlier then announced, Kosor said that it ‘may happen’, Nova TV reports.

- Estimates indicate that this may happen - said Kosor. Asked about the government’s Finances at the time when she assumed the post of prime minister, Kosor replied that it was such that they had to “make a decision on raising Added Value Taxes and introducing the crisis tax”. Kosor also confirmed that only this measure ensured the funds that were needed for retirements and wages.

'There is no plan B'

Commenting on the fact that about 30 thousand citizens filed charges that asked for the review of the constitutionality of the crisis tax, Prime Minister said that she estimated that these lawsuits are to be blamed on the media.

- The right of the citizens is to raise lawsuits like this, the right of the media is to talk about the tax in whatever way they want. However, referring to this tax as a stealing was a little uncomfortable to hear because bringing this tax was the toughest decision I had to make in my career - said Kosor and confirmed that, once the crisis tax is abolished, she will be able to rest peacefully.

Asked whether the Government has a ‘Plan B’, in case the Constitutional Court abolishes the crisis tax, Kosor answered no. - No. This was the only decision made by the Government - she said.
