Social Democrats (SDP) are calling for Minister Kirin's resignation after he found out that his YouTube videos had been sent from SDP. The representatives of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) have asked for the Minister of the Interior Ivica Kirin to be removed from office and be held legally reponsible for his statement that he had found out that the video recordings of his statements on the Internet portal YouTube had been sent from SDP.
“I thought that thing with Jubito (you-bee-to, referring to the Minister mispronouncing 'YouTube') was funny at first and then we discovered on the server that it had been sent from SDP. They can rest assured that it is nothing, and we will bring this to public view in our campaign,” Kirin said in Zadar yesterday, report today’s newspapers.
The SDP club reacted to this statement in Parliament today. On behalf of the club, Milanka Opacic asked Kirin to appear in Parliament and clarify his statement.
Parliament Deputy Speaker Luka Bebic (Social Democratic Union, HDZ) responded that the Minister was at the Government’s session in Virovitica and that he could not make it to the Parliament. Subsequently, the SDP members left the session.
“Kirin’s statement was a publicly spoken direct threat addressed to SDP. The Minister abused his position to settle the score with his political opponents,” Opacic said at a press conference.
She is asking Kirin to explain whose decision it was to have the police conduct an investigation of the author of the video recording and what law the decision was based on.
“Who signed the warrant and over suspicion in what criminal act?” Opacic asked and requested that Kirin show the warrant or to resign at today’s session of the Government.
Kirin’s public statement is considered to be a violation of privacy and human rights of all Internet users.
