ZAGREB, CROATIA – Citizens` initiative “You tighten your belt, gang of thieves!” has threatened with a mass protest Friday if the Croatian government does not respond on their 13 demands.
The initiative invites all citizens of Croatia, honest unions and associations to unite in a struggle for a better tomorrow.
The initiative with 58,000 members demands, among other things, that the VAT rate is reduced for all food products, establishment of a fund for the return of pillaged property, higher pensions and voting rights of Diaspora and fake voters to be revoked.
They want the Croatian government to respond by 23 hours on Tuesday, April 28 with a public announcement, claiming it would meet all of their 13 demands. If this does not happen, the Initiative is threatening with a mass protest on May 1, 2009 at 17 hours in Zagreb`s main square, where protestors will demand the government stands down.
- We are under the thumb of an incompetent gang of thieves which welcomed the world recession as a bonus, they seek room and justification in it for all the pillaging since the independence of the Republic of Croatia – the announcement reads.
