In Brussels on Wednesday, the vice-president of the Croatian Cabinet Jadranka Kosor talked to the president of the European Parliament Hans-Gert Poettering, who has taken action for the quick solution to the Slovenian blockade of the Croatian accession negotiations with the EU.
“President Poettering expects a solution to the Slovenian blockade as quick as possible, and the continuation of work so that Croatia can finish negotiations this year as planned” said Kosor after meeting with the president of the European Parliament.
Possible meeting between Sanader and Pahor
Kosor stressed that Poettering was interested in the possibility of a meeting between the Croatian premier with his Slovenian colleague.
“I informed him of the stance of our Cabinet and premier Ivo Sanader about a possible call to the Slovenian premier Borut Pahor to meet at one of the matches at the World Handball Championship in Zagreb” said Kosor.
Kosor added that Poettering will meet with premier Sanader at the start of next month in Strasbourg, where the Croatian premier will stay at the invitation of the European People’s Party (EPP).
