ZAGREB, CROATIA - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic has decided that apart from retired general Vladimir Zagorec, two more generals who were sentenced, Mirko Norac and Tihomir Blaskic, will be stripped of their medals, Dnevnik.he writes.
The procedure for stripping Zagorec of 8 out of 13 of his medals, the website writes, has already been initiated, while the procedure for Norac will be commenced, who will lose his medals for courage. General Tihomir Blaskic faces the same fate.
I won`t wait for a valid verdict to retired general Vladimir Zagorec, his medals will be taken straight away. He is just a fattened mouse.

Norac is currently serving a prison sentence for war crimes in Gospic and he was also invalidly sentenced for war crimes at Medacki dzep (Medak Pocket).
Zagorec was sentenced for stealing a bag containing jewels from a safe in his office while he was leaving duty in 2000 as assistant to defence minister. The bag with jewels was left by German arms trader as a deposit for the money intended for the armament of Croatia. The trial began at the end of 2008, when the retired general was extradited to Croatia from Austria.
The Croatian president announced his medals would be revoked just a day after Zagorec`s verdict, even though it is still not valid.
