Medicial fertilization law, which was introduced by the Croatian Health Minister, Darko Milinovic, is more strict than the one in Switzerland, Poland, Ireland, Italy, Austria and Germany. In fact, Poland, Austria, Italy, Ireland and Germany allowed fertilization of more than three eggs, and freezing of embryos. Switzerland allows the freezing of fertilized eggs, while activities like this are still illegal in Croatia.

Vecernji List writes that Ireland and Poland, both of which are Catholic countries, do not have a law, but instead, adapt themselves to directives on tissues and cells. Freezing of fertilized eggs is legal in these countries and vitrification is considered an experiment.

Italy accepted the law that Croatia currently has in 2004, but they abolished it in April of this year. In fact, the country's Constitutional Court ruled that the law, regardless of the success rates, discriminates against younger and older patients, as well as couples where the man is infertile.

Practice was changed Germany due to lawsuits similar to those in Italy. In this country, a new Protection Act on embryo protection and it allows not only the freezing of zygote, but also of blastocyst (five days old embryos).
