The whale was spotted 30 metres offshore, but did not stick around. It set out for Baska voda.
BRELA, CROATIA – The ten-metre whale was spotted at the Stomorica Cove near Brela in the Adriatic. Utility worker Neven Sosic was the first to see the whale, Slobodna Dalmacija daily writes.
It appeared 30 metres offshore only a few minutes following the earthquake.
- I have spent my whole life next to the sea and have never seen anything like it – Sosic told the paper. He tried to take a photo of the whale, but unfortunately, failed.
- I saw it dive in, the hunched tail disappeared under the surface, but the whale dives a long time before it surfaces up again, so you can`t simply predict when it will happen – Sosic said.
The whale did not stick around for a while, but headed out for Baska voda. The 112 emergency call centre claims that the latest whale spotting report came in from Tucepi, where it was Podgora-bound.
