Slavica Ecclestone watched the semi-final match between Nikolaj Davidenko and Jurgen Melzar in Umag. She came to the tournament at the invitation of her long time friend, Zlatko Matesa, the president of the Croatian Olympic Committee.

“Zlatko and I are good friends from the days when he was the president of the Cabinet. He is one of the smarter people in this country. I like to be in his company because he is a smart and intelligent man” said Slavica for the daily Vecernji List.

In recent days, the story in Umag is that Slavica Ecclestone and Zlatko Matesa might be in a secret relationship. However Slavica denies the allegations.

“I cannot believe that this is being said, because the two of us have been friends for many years. We met when Zlatko was premier and when the story was that Formula 1 could come to Croatia. We remained good friends. When I had the hardest time in life, he was with me. You cannot forget that” said Slavica. She added that after the matches she will go out and have fun in the clubs, and says that fun only starts when you are 50.
