Croatian actor Rade Serbedzija has been nominated for the Canadian film award “Genie” for his role in the movie “Fugitive Pieces” by Jeremy Podeswa.

“Genie” is an award given by the Academy of Canadian Film and Television, which is considered equally valuable as an Oscar or Bafta award. This year’s, 29th awards will take place in Ottawa on April 4.

The Canadian-Greek drama “Fugitive Pieces” is an adaptation of a novel by a Canadian poet, Anne Michaels, about a man who is trying to overcome wounds from childhood and World War Two. Serbedzija acts the role of a Greek archaeologist who saves the life of a boy, Jakob, by taking him from Poland to Greece.
